Southwest Washington Woodturners meet on the second Thursday of each month, except December. Our meetings begin at 7 p.m. at 1600 West 20th, Vancouver, WA.

Next meeting: July 10, 2025 with Elizabeth Weber. Elizabeth is a internationally renowned turner. She is one of the 2024 AAW emerging artists.

This demonstration will cover how to create a rough turned end grain box blank using the back hollowing method, how to properly dry the roughed-out blanks, then how to create a finished box from a rough out that has dried completely. Throughout the demo, we will cover things that are important for embellishing later (thickness, lid fit, grain orientation). We’ll briefly explore how to layout the work, how to hold your workpiece, and tools that can be used to carve on your piece.

Southwest Washington Woodturners is a Washington nonprofit organization that is qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  SWW is devoted to educating woodturners and the public about the art and craft of woodturning.

Dues for 2025 are now payable.

You can pay your membership at the meeting, online, or by mailing a check to the treasurer (see the newsletter) for information.
